Many apples that fell from the grunge tree have long since rotted, but a few mutated into rock 'n' roll "monsters" with raspy, hyper vocals, winding guitars, and melodies both heartfelt and dramatic. A Static Lullaby are one such creature; their Faso Latido will have anyone over 25 wondering, "Uh, is this screamo?"

Like Thursday, Cali screamo band A Static Lullaby are equal parts drum-tight chops and
youthful catharsis. Their second album mixes up propulsive near-metal and heart-tugging
lyrics, but lacks hooks.
