That Green sets tracks "Bible Club" and "Choke On A C**k" alongside one another is an indication of this erstwhile Moldy Peach's subversive intent. As a result, this album will appeal mostly to those who like cheerily ironic, occasionally hilarious tales of drug-ripped tomfoolery set to barroom rock 'n' roll.

Adam Green proved on 2003's lovely and hilarious Friends of Mine that he could meld the
endearingly childish humor of his former band the Moldy Peaches with real songwriting
chops. Which is why Gemstones is such a letdown. Kitschy lyrics spin out of control here:
