Aesop's best songs are like cirrus clouds -- abstract, heavenly and distant. Interpretation is subjective, meaning is elusive and form is deceptive. Here, "he's a dark dumb student / no hokey rookie / day-tripping on visions of chickens that look like R. Crumb drew 'em." He's smart enough to see that nothing matters, but human enough to complain about it anyway.
