Old A.J. is back with his trademark twangy Telecaster, parlor pianos, pretty pedal steels, full-sounding fiddles and a heaping helping of that honky-tonk sound. While the romantic "Too Much of a Good Thing" is the first single, the clever and catchy "USA Today" deserves equal play on the airwaves.

Even on his sloshed Jimmy Buffett duet from last year, "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere," Jackson
exudes a warm, fatherly vibe. Restraint is this fifteen-year veteran's greatest gift as a
vocalist -- and as a personality, too. It's perhaps too much on display on What I Do, a solid
disc that lacks some of the emotional punch of 2002's Drive. On the lonesome-heart ballad
