There's something, well, a little funny about a bunch of personal-jet-flying musicians evangelizing about reducing our carbon footprint. But Live Earth was the world's biggest simultaneous concert ever, and it's hard not to be moved by the sheer numbers of people paying attention -- many for the first time -- to the climate crisis. The artists are appropriately earnest, but some excellent performances lurk within -- including the Police's resurrected genius on "Driven To Tears" and the Beastie Boys' perennial favorite "Intergalactic."

In addition to the imminent threat of global climate change, this CD-DVD collection from
July's Al Gore-spearheaded concerts brings attention to another problem: Most musicians
under thirty have no idea how to rock a stadium. "We are here on a momentous day for the
people of our generation," Keane frontman Tom Chaplin yells &#8212 and then his band limps
