Fred Neil

Along with The Graduate and Easy Rider, Midnight Cowboy is one of the classic soundtracks of late 1960s and '70s American cinema. Nilsson's hugely popular rendition of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'" is the anchor here, but there are plenty of other goodies. In addition to composer John Barry's wonderful, country and western-flavored theme song, John Lennon's one-time backing band Elephant's Memory unloads a six-minute slice of novelty psychedelia complete with faux-Doors organ runs.
