Plain White T's

The grouping of artists here is erratic, but this collection of covers from 1993's spooky animation flick, The Nightmare Before Christmas, is quite a treat. Original composer Danny Elfman provides the opening and closing tracks, while freakmaster Marilyn Manson groans about "hailing to the Pumpkin King" and Korn and Shiny Toy Guns add in psycho "la la la's." The standouts to this creepfest include gorgeous instrumentals by Amiina, Rodrigo y Gabriela and the Album Leaf; RJD2's jittery breakbeat romp; Polyphonic Spree's Floyd-ish epic; and Sparklehorse's fragile falsetto ballad.
