Luv 'N Haight's latest Super Cool California Soul compilation makes it look easy, burrowing out 16 ultra-rare jams spanning the coasts of the Golden state from 1966 to 1982. Be warned: you might misguidedly confuse Darondo's "Such a Night" for a lost Marvin Gaye tune, and Spanky Wilson's "Fancy" will have you re-considering the authority of those magazine-sponsored one-stop soul collections.
