The era of chucking in an extra 16 bars of intro and calling it a remix are long gone. These days one expects a full re-rendering, showcasing the style of the remixer, and oftentimes resulting in the original track becoming all but unrecognizable. The Aphex Twin took this to extremes, and you can get the sense of that same kind of madness with the DFA: gritty distortion and bleepy messes, but always retaining that driving dance rock beat, particularly with their excellent interpretation of the Gorillaz' "Dare."
