Christian alt-punk veterans Anberlin have made a name for themselves with high-register vocals and speedy, resonating guitar chops, with frontman Stephen Christian pulling off melodies his more adenoidal peers can only attempt to duplicate. On New Surrender, the boys take 2007's power-rock outburst Cities down a notch, going for a mellower sound. The slower tempos found on anthemic tracks like "Breathe" and "Soft Skeletons" will satisfy your softer side, but if you absolutely need something heavy, check out "The Resistance."
