Ann Peebles

Though best known for her 1974 hit single "I Can't Stand The Rain," Ann Peebles has a lot more to offer for fans of rugged, Southern-fried soul. After taking off much of the 1980s, she returns triumphantly on this comeback album released in 1992. Backed by gritty guitars and warm organ vamps, she still knocks 'em dead with her undeniably sultry-yet-rough vocal style.

Beats the part-time variety in life, but not necessarily in art ("Bouncin' Back," "Fear No Evil," "Miss You") (Grade - **)
