Beach House

For the uninitiated, Beach House sets the mood for a cozy hideaway in a sleepy, off-season resort town. The band portrays a sleepy mystery that haunts you like a dream you think you might have had. Where the duo gently leaned on a thin, filmy bedroom production for their self-titled debut, Devotion bares more flesh and bone. On "Gila" and "Heart of Chambers," singer Victoria Legrand's hushed voice and reverb organ is gently caressed by Alex Scally's slide guitar, and on "Wedding Bell," muted blues tickles a spindly harpsichord. Devotion is an intoxicating trip to melancholia.

track to the group's second full-length is true to the spirit of its name: This is music as
secret hideaway, all come-hither vocals, fuzzy organ riffs, liquid slide guitar and muffled
