Adding catchy samples to simple mixes of basslines, drumbeats and rock 'n' roll, Big Audio Dynamite charmed Top 40 listeners in the U.S. with an unforgettable brand of feel-good alt dance. Ex-Clash singer/lead guitarist Mick Jones formed the five-piece band in the mid-1980s, adding dance tracks and samplers to traditional pop song arrangements. At the end of the decade, the original members disbanded and Jones formed Big Audio Dynamite II. Their greatest commercial achievement was the pop-friendly chart-topper "Rush."
