Bill Fox

Fox's second solo album finds him moving away from his roots in power pop and indie rock and embracing more of a lo-fi folk aesthetic. Most of the tunes feature nothing more than acoustic guitar, harmonica and Fox's Dylan-influenced voice. Some tracks, namely "From a Dark Night," "Portland Town" and "Saga of Bus Station Joe & Rag Luck Addie," feel downright Appalachian. It was a shame that Fox retired from music shortly after Transit Byzantium's release; it was easily his best work.
