If its colorful album art, list of collaborators (super-producer Timbaland, Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale, among many others) and this first single are any indication, Bjork's Volta promises to be an exuberant, outlandish affair -- a welcome contrast to the more introspective work she's turned out so far this decade. The first single "Earth Intruders" is a good start. Angelic wails writhe around a propulsive beat riddled with fat synths that can only be Timbaland's. "We are the earth intruders," shrieks Iceland's national treasure, launching the first sonic salvo of her latest brassy invasion.
