Although it lacks the consistently knees-up, pop-art delights of Parklife, their much publicized follow-up delivers in different ways. Extremely inventive and filled with more melancholy character sketches, this album takes its cues from great English pop from the Kinks to XTC and skews it through modern, cynical eyes.
