Husband of Americana/Gospel/folk diva Julie Miller, as well as lead guitarist of Emmylou Harris's Spyboy band, Buddy Miller prefers his country music marinated in the rich, tangy twang of that old, sun-glazed Bakersfield sound. His outland barrelhouse songs are soaked in warm and rustic country intonations thicker than truck-stop gravy on biscuits, and his vocal inflections are as elastic as a set of flat-wound bass strings. At times, his songs let you taste the salty beer from your own tears, but conversely, Miller's up-tempo shuffles invoke the spirit that makes you want to drunkenly chuck bottles at the chicken wire wrapped around a Honky-Tonk stage.
