Buddy Tate

About

During the Big Band era, Buddy Tate's robust, always swingin' tenor saxophone style sounded as good with Count Basie's outfit as it did with the earthier Jay McShann. He led many of his own dates deep into the 1980s, often with such esteemed colleagues as Harry "Sweets" Edison, and played with both the Statesmen of Jazz and Lionel Hampton's group in the '90s.
