Casting Crowns

While “Slow Fade,” “White Dove…,” and the title track are missing from this live version of CC’s third album, the scale of excellence remains untipped. Steadying the scale are concert-sized versions of top tracks “Every Man,” “What This World Needs,” and “East to West” plus the reinvention of two earlier hits: The Quaker-Celtic musical interlude from their debut’s “Praise You With the Dance” becomes a fiddle-guitar faceoff with tones of Deliverance, and “Love them Like Jesus” gets totally stripped to an emotional trio of two voices and a piano, painting the song’s original message more clearly and powerfully than ever.
