You can't accuse Clinic of creating a formula and sticking to it. Their method is simply not to have one, playing around like art-school punks set free in a studio with retro gear and ultra-modern effects. Do It! features jarring post-punk ("Shopping Bag"), quirky woodwind-filled post-pop ("Free Not Free"), brassy freak-out rock ("Corpus Christi"), harmonica-drenched folk ("Tomorrow"), and acid-flavored experimentalism in the vein of '60s artists like Syd Barrett, Strawberry Alarm Clock and Cream ("High Coin," "Mary and Eddie," "Coda"). Good luck finding a formula for that.
