Coldplay

Coldplay's debut is a dark and melodic exploration of ground staked by their Brit Pop forebears, broken Stateside by such current big shots as Radiohead. Parachutes approaches things with a humanity not to be found on Kid A as well as a ragged guitar sound that pushes the envelope a bit as far as mainstream music is concerned. A deservedly acclaimed album.
