Are you as unsurprised as we are that Craig David has never really quite made it huge in the U.S.? First, the dude is British, but David's musicality has just as much to do with his square-pegginess as his nationality. In short, he doesn't sound quite like any male R&B singer on the American market today. Just listen to his fourth album: It hops from a David Bowie quote to a fat funk groove on the first two tracks before skipping and jumping onto acoustic ballads ("Officially Yours"), stateside-friendly club jams ("This Is the Girl") and a little disco ("Friday Night").
