On At Last, Cyndi Lauper tackles a hefty set of pop standards and, for the most part, pulls them off with aplomb. She's replaced her high-pitched hiccupping with a lower, warmer tone that achingly caresses such songs as "Walk On By" and "You Really Got A Hold On Me." A shockingly pleasant surprise.

The great curse of Cyndi Lauper's Eighties breakthrough was that her excellent voice was
always overshadowed by her highly eccentric fashion sense. This all-covers album
spotlights Lauper the lounge chanteuse, alternately dignified and bombastic. Ironically,
