Dan Seals

About

Singer-Songwriter Dan Seals had a successful pop career before becoming a country hit maker. As part of the '70s soft rock duo England Dan and John Ford Coley, "I'd Really Like to See You Tonight" was just one of their many hit songs. As a solo artist, Seals has exemplified the light pop country that dominated Nashville in the 1980s. Entirely bypassing any notion of New Traditionalism, his music has more in common with the sensitive Singer-Songwriters of the '70s, and one doesn't have to look far to see a parallel between his burly sensitive guy persona and that of superstar Garth Brooks. That said, Seals is a concise, economical songwriter, and possesses an amazingly sweet and soothing voice that was the centerpiece of nine No. 1 hits between 1985 and 1989. He has also been a good friend to underappreciated songwriters like Cheryl Wheeler, recording their songs and performing with them.
