Dave Alvin

About

Guitarist Dave Alvin first came to prominence in the early '80s as the songwriter and lead guitarist of The Blasters, a seminal L.A. Roots band he started with his older brother Phil. The Blasters made a blisteringly kinetic amalgam of R&B, Rockabilly, blues, country, and every possible Roots music subgenre. After leaving The Blasters in the mid-'80s, Alvin briefly played guitar for X before striking out on his own. After one record on a major label, he settled into a long-standing relationship with Hightone Records that has seen him evolve into a multifaceted songwriter and guitarist. He's equally at home picking Country Blues-style acoustic guitar or leading his band through material that comfortably blurs the boundaries of Pop, rock, country and blues.
