Bisbal got his start on the Spanish television show Operacion Triunfo, where he trained with sixteen other contestants in singing and performance. He was one of the winners in the first series, and the stage was set for his singing career. He was an immediate hit in Spain and he won over the greater Spanish-speaking world in 2003 when he won the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, thanks in no small part to production by hit producer Kike Santander. The hit record Buleria followed a year later.
