Diana Krall

Up to this point, all of Krall's albums had been small group affairs that kept her piano in sharp focus. Here, Johnny Mandel crafts orchestral arrangements for most of the tracks. Krall still stretches out on a few small group numbers. It's a worthy effort, even if Mandel's charts aren't equal to those he's crafted for singers such as Shirley Horn and Peggy Lee.
