DJ Kayslay

About

One of New York's most famous DJs, Kayslay (also known as the Drama King) got his start in hip-hop as an old school graffiti artist -- his work can be seen in the legendary documentary Style Wars. After doing a bid for narcotics, he returned to the scene as a DJ, flooding the streets with mix tapes. He was also a key figure in the high-profile beef between Nas and Jay-Z, debuting new "dis records" on his HOT 97 radio show the Drama Hour. Like Funkmaster Flex and DJ Clue, Kayslay has made a career of keeping an ear to the street and compiling the latest exclusives on mix CDs. His Streetsweeper series became especially popular and led to a major label deal with Columbia Records.
