Erick Morillo

About

As DJ, producer, remixer, label owner, TV host, platinum selling artist and Grammy winner, Erick Morillo's career is emblematic of the multi-tasking artists who lead the underground house movement in the 1990s. His achievements in the dance music genre -- and his longevity -- have earned him recognition on the international club scene. Born in Colombia and raised in New Jersey, Morillo's style is influenced by early Latin music, hip hop and reggae. After his first dance floor hit, 1993's "I Like to Move It," under the pseudonym Reel 2 Reel, Morillo began performing up to 30 club gigs a month. He started the record label Subliminal Records, and also became one of the few American DJs to hold a residency at London's Ministry of Sound. In 2004, he released his first studio album, My World, featuring collaborations with Puff Daddy, Terra Deva, DJ Rap and Audio Bullys. In 2007, Morillo was asked by Prince Harry and Prince William to DJ at the official Concert For Diana after party.
