Rhapsody

Millennium is a decent introduction to one of folk-rock's greatest bands. Yet there's really no way to soak up Fairport Convention's genius in just 10 songs. Covering the early years, 1968 to '70, this disc charts the group's evolution from West Coast worshippers to British pioneers. Every tune here is utterly classic. Sandy Denny's haunted vocals on "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" will make you weep, while the druid stomp of "Come All Ye" will have you naked and dancing among ancient ruins.
