This is not the hot improvisatory sound of mid-1970s Fania but the soft-edged crossover sound of late-'70s Fania. Sure, there are more than a few cheesy moments, but tracks like "Ella Fue" and "Donde" are rich with the kind of cheesiness that feels -- and sounds -- good.
