More club oriented and less overtly political than previous Field Mob releases, Light Poles is the group's most accessible and consistent work to date. "So What," featuring Ciara, spent weeks on urban charts, and the self-explanatory "Baby Bend Over" is so catchy you almost overlook Kalange's curious claim that he'll "eat pussy all night on Viagra." On the other end of the spectrum, "Blacker the Berry" is folksy Southern nostalgia wherein Kalange worries that "God didn't take his time with me" and muses, "Venus and Serena beat more white girls than O.J. and Rick James put together."
