Flatt and Scruggs

About

Although Bill Monroe is often credited as the original Bluegrass pioneer, it's Monroe's proteges Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs (and their popular string band the Foggy Mountain Boys) who really helped bring the genre out of its wayward hillbilly pigeonhole. Flatt's exquisite vocal control and charming smile helped get the Foggy Mountain Boys more live and television exposure than any other string bands of the time
