G. Love & Special Sauce's brand of 501 Blues/Berklee-busker funk is a perennial favorite at the backyard BBQs of college kids stuck at summer school, and Superhero Brother measures up. At a time when so many flaccid indie dorks flirt with mid '70s blue-eyed soul like Hall & Oates, Chicago and Steely Dan, G. Love has the chutzpah to actually get down. Of course, they rap too much. But if you're craving a true update of "Saturday in the Park," these are your boys.
