Of all the young Acid Jazz groups out there, Galactic may be the only one you could unashamedly mention in the same sentence as the Meters, Maceo Parker and Jimmy McGriff. This New Orleans band owes everything to 1970s Jazz-Funk -- a fact they embrace rather than run from. Masters of laying down solid grooves and working them over, these instrumentals and vocal tracks will get your whole body moving faster than a swarm of radioactive bees. Galactic are good enough to be put alongside Jimmy Smith and Joey DeFrancesco on the homage to the Hammond B-3 called Organ-ized.
