Gene Ammons

The late Gene "Jug" Ammons (he died last August at 49) was a craftsman tenor sax player.
His reputation was based not on innovations or radical musical concepts -- but on the
agility, passion and warmth of his sound. He seemed to draw from the same well that Ben
