Gene Ammons

These "make-out" ballad sides were cut at the start of the 1950s, when Gene Ammons' full-bodied tenor sax sound was a major part of many a juke joint slow dance. Like his later disciple Stanley Turrentine, Ammons was all about his creamy, ultra-romantic tone and sense of drama. Ammons knew how to tell a story with his instrument; here, he weaves a very romantic tale.
