For all the fireworks the Gipsy Kings can conjure on blistering tracks like "Siempre Acaba Tu Vida" and "Pajarito," they are always just as powerful with syrupy heartbreakers. Here, it's one of the grande ballads, "Mi Corazon," the record's highlight, that really pulls at the ol' heartstrings. "Los Peces En El Rio" offers the best of both worlds, though, starting out as a mournful crooner, and exploding with their signature machine-gun hand claps. With Tierra Gitana, the Gipsy Kings again demonstrate the exciting potential of flamenco nuevo.
