Glen Campbell

Even if you think you know Glen Campbell, you have never heard him like this. The country crooner puts his indelible stamp on a handful of songs originally done by contemporary artists such as Tom Petty and Green Day. His worn, Southern vocals wrap around sparkling production (a lush string section and chiming guitars are employed in nearly every song) that gives off an air of '70s AM radio. Some of these "reinventions" work better than others, the gems including the Replacements' "Sadly Beautiful," the Velvet Underground's "Jesus," Travis' "Sing" and Jackson Browne's "These Days."
