About
Along with Robert Forster, Grant McLennan managed to form one of the finest pop bands of the '80s (the Go-Betweens), which in turn managed to write one of the finest pop songs of that era ("Bye Bye Pride"). As the Go-Betweens, they achieved minor financial success while reaping much critical praise and cult status for their sublime pop gems. As with great songwriting duos, roles were established: McLennan as the temperamental poet, and Forster as the staid backbone. During the '90s, McLennan's solo records focused on a darker roots-based Folk that continued with his realist, wordy lyrics and crafty songwriting. He maintains a dreamy, haunting partnership with the Church's Steve Kilbey as Jack Frost.
