Like most acts on the Legacy label, Philly soul group Harold and the Blue Notes, anchored by Teddy Pendergrass' booming baritone, were exceptionally talented surrogates for the left-leaning political agenda of producer/songwriting team Gamble and Huff. "Wake Up Everybody" and "To Be Free To Be Who We Are" are stirring, sex-infused bombs of self-righteousness.
