Henry Butler

About

Having soaked in the variety of musical flavors prominent in his native New Orleans -- Traditional Jazz, Soul, R&B -- Henry Butler assimilated these influences into his own distinctive style. His interpretations of Professor Longhair are particularly exceptional. Few players have the range to play Longhair and Bernstein on the same album as Butler did on Orleans Interpretations (1989), something that conclusively demonstrates his vision.
