Undoubtedly close friends of the horned one by this stage, guitarist John McEntee and his Incantation bandmates have been churning out blasphemous Death Metal in one form or another since 1989. Actually, McEntee has been the band's only constant, with an astonishing thirty other members having passed through the ranks (they generally function as a quartet). Remarkably, their music has changed little, if at all, maintaining the same balance of deep-growling vocal absurdity, smothering drumbeats, and down-tuned guitars that sacrifice cleanly recorded crunchiness for a more distant, atmospheric sound. Chalk it up to "integrity" and a steadfast commitment to "stay brutal."
