In 2005, Jars of Clay singer Dan Haseltine confessed to his bandmates that he had not been living the exemplary life his Christian-themed lyrics described. Undeterred, the band decided to use his bold admission as an impetus for their first self-produced album. The result is perhaps the strongest set of songs since Flood, songs that explore the often ambiguous terrain between right and wrong, sin and grace, guilt and shame.
