There is no underestimating JoC's impact on Christian rock. The Tennessee-based group was one of the very first acts to filter CCM through post-grunge and arty piano rock. The Long Fall Back to Earth continues the group's attempts at establishing a fanbase among the secular. Although spiritual themes abound, a track like "Heaven" boasts such an obvious debt to the Cure that it would sound right at home on adult alternative radio, sandwiched between tracks by Coldplay and the Fray.
