Jason Falkner

Anything but slumping, Falkner's sophomore LP refines the sharp, unexpected pop writing of his debut with songs that are even more ambitious, helped by spacious production by Nigel Godrich (OK Computer). His multi-movement pop songs, such as "Revelation," are rounded into tidy packages, where the straight-ahead singles like "Holiday" are shaded with vintage synths and sweeping falsetto backups. It was a commercial dud, but the years since its release have proved its mettle as a cult classic.
