Jean-Jacques Perrey

About

One half of the legendary duo Perrey & Kingsley, this Frenchman helped introduce a number of early synthesizers (namely the Moog) to the public via his space-age, easy listening recordings. Of his better-known albums, The Amazing New Sound of... (1969) is closest to the playfully deranged, music-box-with-a-light-rock-beat sound of the duo's vintage records. By comparison, Moog Indigo (1970) is a bona fide Funk-fest. You can clearly hear its influence on the blippy dance music of present-day retro pop/dance acts such as Air. The song "E.V.A.," off the Moog Indigo album has been remixed by star big-beat producer Fatboy Slim.
