Jean Ritchie

About

Ritchie was born in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky and became an important advocate of the songs she learned as a child. A collector and performer of traditional American folk songs, especially children's songs, Ritchie has produced over forty albums featuring her rusticated voice and mountain dulcimer playing. She's also worked with a number of other important figures in folk, from Nanci Griffith to the Kingston Trio.
