Warning: Jerry Goldsmith's epic score could inspire you to don fatigues, purchase one of them all-in-one survival knives and wander the jungle in search of P.O.W.s. That's a joke, of course. The best thing about Goldsmith is how the legendary composer craftily weaves John Carpenter-inspired synth sounds into what is otherwise a pretty straightforward score for an army flick. This lends the action segments a kind of percolating edge, as if secret radar is forever monitoring our troubled hero.
