Both a throwback to the days when Red Hot Chili Peppers cover bands first haunted high school talent shows, as well as a signpost of the recent Alt Metal/Funk Metal craze, this Md. outfit have carved out a substantial fan base on the high school/frat/X-Games circuit. Listeners cite diversity as a key selling-point -- said diversity essentially involves combining standard Funk Metal moves with the occasional Blues Rock solo, rapped vocal, or tinge of Reggae. Contrary to the good-time, down-home imagery suggested by their name, Jimmie's Chicken Shack often project a serious lyrical image, adding in a few borderline-Hootie acoustic ballads along the way.
